After a tiring & adventurous day 1, we got up little late on Day 2. It was 10am when we got ready, had tea made of Goat Milk, photo shot with the family and was about to leave. Reached Dholavira – Escavated Site in less than 5 minute ride. Had visited the museum and later to the site. It was spectacular view from the site as it was surround by Rann all over. The site was of Harappan Civilization which was around 4500 Years old. One of the most important things that one should see was their management during that era. The drainage system, water preservation was amazing.
After roaming for around 45min we started making our plan for next hault. We were very hungry by that time and were not sure what we will get on our way back to Khavda. Thus we visited to Tourism board hotel and requested them to serve us Poha & tea. Filling our stomach, we took few bottles of water along with us and left for Khavda.
Due to security reason & wet Rann we were not able to take the shorter route of 36KM and inturn we were forced to take the route of Khavda through Bhuj which was around 360Km. We started our bike in full swing & left for the day from Dholavira. One the way to Khavda we did our refueling for stomach & to bike too.
Finally at 5PM we were on the edge to Bhuj. Called Jeetu (a CS friend who helped us a lot on this journey) and met him on Bhuj Bus stand. Later had chit chat session with him & his friend (who came from England) along with the tea. It was around 7.30PM when we finally decided to leave towards Khavda which is around 70Km from Bhuj.
9.30PM and we reached Khavda. Shocked, confused… what not when we heard, saw that there is neither food shop nor accommodation available in Vishram Grah (Govt. Guest House). Jeetu… was the call. We called him again and as usual he helped us and arranged a place in village where we had our dinner. The family was very nice & kind. The most important thing was we were part of local people who were so helpful & kind in nature. It was a dream come true to see their village & be part of it, no matter for short period of time.
It was 11.30 when we decided to move ahead and take a night hault at Kala Dungar temple which was around 20Km from Khavda village on the top of the hill. Finally driving on curves & under full moon light we reached the top. After having a discussion amongst us & with the incharge of the Dharamshala there, we thought to do camping & put our tent there. 2 of us slept in the tent whereas other 2 slept outside the tent.
The view from top of the hill was splendid. Rann was like a heaven. Words will fell short to explain the view & experience we had from the top of the hill looking at white shield of salt like a snow field. It’s just like a million dollar wish came true. Finally it was 2 Am and we decided to sleep and get up early in the morning to view the Rann at the time of sun rise.
